SARC Consumers (Developmentally Disabled)

Q: What kind of services do you provide?

A: Golden Valley Home Care (GVHC) provides in-home respite care for developmentally disabled children and adults through the San Andreas Regional Center (SARC), Department of Developmental Services (DDS).

Q: How do I receive respite care services for my special needs loved one?

A: Give our office a call and/or call your Service Coordinator at SARC (408) 374-9960.

Q: How do I apply for SARC services?

Q: What are your Service Requirements?

A: GVHC requires families to set a consistent schedule along with a 4-hour minimum per visit.

Q: Can the caregiver care for my other children in addition to the regional center consumer?

A: Yes, there is an additional “Sibling Rate” charge of $15.95 per hour for each additional non-regional center consumer.

Senior Care Clients

Q: How are caregivers selected?

A: GVHC looks for people who have a passion for helping others. Each potential caregiver must then successfully complete a thorough personal and professional reference and criminal background check. Each caregiver is also bonded and insured.

Q: How do you train your caregivers?

A: Many of our caregivers are Nursing Assistants and Home Health Aides. We require all of our caregivers to have previous experience working with either seniors or people with special needs. We also provide continuing training and education to keep caregiver skills up to date.

Q: What happens if my caregiver gets sick?

A: If your caregiver is ill, we will make every effort to assign another team member to meet your home care needs.

Q: Do you provide senior services to those in nursing homes or assisted living facilities?

A: Yes, we provide eldercare and companionship to seniors residing in assisted living facilities and nursing homes who may require additional attention and/or personalized long-term care.

Q: Who pays the caregiver, GVHC or me?

A: We employ your caregiver, which means that we handle all the billing, payroll, taxes, insurance and administrative responsibilities for your caregiver.

Q: Why should I use GVHC instead of putting an ad in the newspaper to find someone?

A: There are several reasons why GVHC should be your choice for senior companionship and home care:
• Our caregivers are screened, bonded and insured for your safety.
• Caregivers are trained specifically in either eldercare or developmentally disabled care, and have demonstrated a sincere desire to help others.
• We handle caregiver payment and withholding taxes as required by law.

A: Rates and service hours vary. Please contact us for specific rate information.

Q: Is GVHC a cleaning company or maid service?

A: No, but our caregivers can provide light housekeeping, laundry and ironing.
